About the concept

The community of Rhodes' multicultural diversity; Indigenous and colonial history; along with its natural riverside location, all lend themselves well for themes through which a rich expression of story and image can occur.

Combining these temporal and historical phenomena with a stairway, we arrive at the concept of passage. Coming and going, back and forth, up and down, step by step, away and back again.

Through this passing, our artwork will describe the traces of these journeys.

The final photomantage and illustrative vignettes will be printed onto Alupanel veneer and attached to the Lewis Avenue stairway risers and central facade.
